Intentional Smiles understands that it can be painful and stressful enough to have a single damaged tooth, let alone a mouth full of aching, missing, and obviously damaged teeth. Led by Dr. Taylor Barton, our team in Edmond, Oklahoma, is not only here to help but feels it is a great privilege to assist our neighbors in restoring the quality of their lives through quality, complete mouth rehabilitation services.
We appreciate that concerns over costs may have led to your being in a situation with lots of missing, broken, painful teeth in the first place. Dr. Barton and our team feel you should never have to choose between essential oral care and other basic needs in life. For this reason, we work with patients to stagger treatments as necessary. If you have a lot of needs, we can prioritize more emergent conditions and then work through the less urgent concerns afterward. This buys you a little time. So you are not stuck with one big bill to pay right away. Furthermore, we navigate the insurance process, so you don’t have to! Any out-of-pocket expenses you are worried about can be discussed with our team. We are happy to work out a financial arrangement that suits your budget and isn’t an additional source of stress to you and your family. We also pride ourselves in operating an ethical practice. We will never “upcharge” you. Patients get the services they need and want and nothing more.
So, if you are a good candidate for full-mouth rehabilitation, we might start by identifying the source of “troublesome” teeth. These “troubles” might include aching teeth originating from a cavity, other forms of decay, or even a deep infection. Other issues that may need to be cared for include inflamed or damaged gums. Failure to promptly and effectively treat gum disease can result in the loss of further teeth, as you need these important soft tissue attachments to support your teeth.
Of course, this varies based on what we find during an evaluation. In some cases, simple fillings may be placed. In other cases, more extensive dental work (like crowns and root canal treatment) may be needed. Sometimes, even with our best efforts, a deeply inflamed or infected tooth can’t be saved. Leaving it in your mouth would present dangers to neighboring teeth and other structures of the body. Infections, after all, do not always stay put. They can travel to different parts of the body via your blood. When teeth can’t be saved, we can discuss options to replace them with bridges, dentures, and implants. Gum care, too, depends on the nature and severity of damage. For earlier-stage gum disease, we suggest nonsurgical therapies like a professional cleaning or deep cleaning with Scaling and Root Planing. For later-stage disease, we may need to heal and regenerate your gums with antibiotic/surgical periodontal therapies.
Again, the answer to this question varies considerably based on your needs. Generally, services that can wait address those conditions that are not urgent and are not producing pain and swelling. These problems should not threaten the health of your mouth and other parts of your body. They might include cosmetic dentistry (i.e., direct resin veneers) or orthodontic treatment with clear aligner therapy. There is no rehabilitation treatment quite like yours. So, let’s hear from you today! Call the office of Intentional Smiles at (405) 348-2266 to schedule your consultation in Edmond, OK.
